All charged up and ready for a new era

The City is all charged up and ready for a new era with the recent delivery of three electric vehicles. In August 2021, the City announced the current Parking Services fleet of three hybrid vehicles would be replaced with EVs in the 2022/2023 replacement program. I am pleased to report we have expanded that purchase to seven.

One of the vehicles has been provided to me for attending meetings and events around the City, helping us spread the word about our commitment to reducing emissions.

With summer approaching, a significant number of exciting events are coming up in our City. This weekend, presented by the City of Stirling, the Drug Aware Groundswell Festival kicks off at Scarborough Beach. Nominations have also opened for the WAMAwards presented by the City of Stirling, so make sure you nominate yourself or favourite band or artist.

We have the perfect way for you to get to some of these events along the coast; after the City sponsored a successful trial last summer of the open top double-decker tourist bus, we are delighted to see an expanded service return this Spring. The Perth Coastal Explorer will provide a paid service for visitors from Perth CBD to and from the coast with a 'hop on hop off' option between Scarborough and Hillarys Boat Harbour.

The City is also continuing to conduct community consultations on a wide range of important topics such as Scarborough Normalisation, so please visit our website to have your say and help us shape our City.

Finally, I encourage you to continue to nominate local heroes for our Community Citizen of the Year 2023 awards. Each year on Australia Day, the Community Citizen of the Year Awards give local governments around the state the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution and celebrate community engagement of people within the community.

Auspire - Australia Day Council of Western Australia and the City of Stirling are accepting nominations now.
