Sunset Veranda

Sunset Veranda was the City's independent FRINGE WORLD pop-up venue located at Scarborough Beach, officially opening in 2014 and partnered with FRINGE WORLD for the first time in 2015. Sunset Veranda 2020 was the City’s best and most diverse yet, with over 16,500 attendees, 100 individual events and 30 sold out shows across the 30 days, and won the FRINGE WORLD 2020 Independent Program Award, recognising the best independently produced program across Western Australia. Sunset Veranda was also awarded the Parks and Leisure Australia (WA) Major Event of the Year 2020.

Due to the impact of COVID-19 on local communities and the events industry, the City repositioned their events portfolio to provide increased community and business support. The new events season includes a series of smaller events spread across the City, specifically for local residents. Due to the need for the City to deliver increased localised support, Sunset Veranda and WAAPA in the Park will no longer be delivered. The City continues to support and fund FRINGE WORLD partnerships and events through funding and sponsorship, including local artist support through the CCF for the development of new works for FRINGE WORLD.
