Groundswell Festival

Groundswell Festival Presented by the City of Stirling

The  Groundswell Festival Presented by the City of Stirling returns to Scarborough Beach with 3 days of jammed packed action from Friday 6 October - Sunday 8 October 2023. 

The festival is a free community event delivered by the Scarborough Beach Association, which celebrates positive youth culture and engagement, offers pathways to professional sporting competition and cement Scarborough as Perth’s home of surf, skate and beach culture.

The event attract around 17,000 visitors over the three days and is still the biggest multisport youth event in Western Australia. It offers local amateur surf, skate and basketball competitions and pathways to professional competitions. Beyond the surf, skate bowl and courts, the event offers a range of other free activities including wellness, sustainability and entertainment programs, beach games, DJ’s, pop-up markets, live installations, workshops, food trucks, plus the return of crowd fave the 78 Hub and Festival Village and the Groundswell Live music concert featuring local WA bands. 

The City is a proud Presenting Partner and has supported this event from its inception in 2015.

Paw-some Day Out 2023

The City’s annual Paw-some Day Out will return to Dianella Regional Open Space on Sunday 29 October 2023.

With over 3,000 people and their pets in attendance, Paw-some Day Out is the City’s largest dog-friendly event, hosting over 40 stallholders showcasing the latest pet products and services. The day also features a best dressed costume parade, canine obstacle course, pup art activity, show bags, eating challenge, prizes and more.

The Aussies 2023

2023 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships 

The 2023 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships will be held in Perth from Friday 1 - Sunday 3 December. In recent years the Championships have been held in Tahiti, Hong Kong, France, Spain and Portugal, and will be held in Australia in 2023 for the first time! 

The three-day competition starting from Fremantle and ending at Scarborough is expected to attract 1,000 competitors from 30 countries around the world, with an additional 1,000 visiting supporters. Scarborough Beach will host the race finish line, with a 'Festival Zone' including an athlete’s hub, that will be the focus for a week of activation.

Mirrabooka NAIDOC 2023

Mirrabooka NAIDOC Event 2023

The Mirrabooka NAIDOC Committee present the Mirrabooka NAIDOC Event each year in a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history.

The City of Stirling is proud to support the Committee and share in the celebrations each year. The 2023 NAIDOC theme was For our Elders and it was a pleasure to acknowledge the important contribution of our Elders in supporting our community.

The Aussies 2023

The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships 2023 (known as 'the Aussies') took place at Scarborough and Trigg beaches from 25 March - 2 April 2023, and attracted over 10,700 attendees.

The Aussies saw 5,841 surf lifesavers from 171 surf clubs competing in 505 water and beach events from Youth, Open and Masters categories. The Aussies 2023 was nine days of surf sport action across 18 categories ranging from under 13s to over 75s.

In addition to the competition area, the lower promenade ‘Festival Zone’ also housed the City and TWA marquees, event sponsors, merchandise, food and beverage suppliers, with SBA facilitating 'the Aussies' edition of the Sunset Markets in the upper square.

WAM Awards 2022 presented by City of Stirling 

City of Stirling was proud to partner with West Australian Music (WAM) to deliver the 2022 WAM Awards at the Astor Theatre Perth on Tuesday 1 November. 

This event recognised the excellence and accomplishments of the WA Music Industry across 30+ genres and categories, including four new additional City of Stirling Awards.

No More Blank Walls Street Art Festival

The ‘No More Blank Walls’ Street Art Festival took place in Mount Lawley from 8 - 16 April 2022, with an aim to beautify the city and bring people together in a celebration of street art culture. NMBW featured murals, live art, a gallery exhibition, community events & workshops, street art tours, artist talks and after parties. To view the photos head to the City's Facebook page.
