Two women, one shipwreck and four centuries of secrets.

Stirling Libraries – Scarborough is hosting a free author talk with Perth author Stefanie Koens and fellow writer and interviewer Emily Paull to discuss her debut novel, Daughters of Batavia.

Join us from 5.30pm – 6.30pm on Wednesday 15 October for an unforgettable evening as Stefanie delves into the hauntingly beautiful layers of her Banjo Prize-winning tale at this in-conversation style event.

This sweeping historical fiction bridges time and continents, weaving together the lives of two women – Tess McCarthy, a modern-day English teacher seeking truth on the remote Abrolhos Islands and Saskia, a young Dutchwoman aboard the ill-fated Batavia in 1628.

Through mystery, loss and unexpected love, Stefanie explores how the echoes of the past can shape the present. From shipwrecks and survival to family secrets and personal reckonings, this is a story that will stay with you long after the final page.
