“Squash is one of the healthiest sports in the world and showcase events like these help drive participation, leading to a healthier, more active City," Mayor Mark Irwin said.

Squash champions from all over Australia will flock to the City of Stirling next month for the Australian Masters Squash Championships and Trans-Tasman Test Series hosted at Squashworld Mirrabooka.

Proudly sponsored by the City of Stirling, the championships will attract hundreds of competitors and supporters nationwide, many of whom will stay for up to two weeks providing a great boost to the local economy.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the event would add to the City’s reputation as a host of major squash events in WA.

“The Australian Masters Squash Championships will be the biggest squash event in WA in the last 10 years and we’re proud to be hosting it in the City of Stirling,” Mayor Irwin said.

“This event builds on the momentum generated by the WA Open International Squash Tournament held at Squashworld Mirrabooka last year.

“And next year we’ll go one bigger with the World Masters Squash Championships featuring an all-glass squash court in Karrinyup Shopping Centre, making this exciting sport even more accessible to spectators.

“Squash is one of the healthiest sports in the world and showcase events like these help drive participation, leading to a healthier, more active City.”

The Individual Championships will run from 5-7 September, with the Interstate Teams Series to follow from 9-13 September.

Before the national events kick off, Australia’s best will face off against New Zealand’s top masters for the 27th Trans-Tasman Test Series on Tuesday 2 September, Wednesday 3 September and Monday 8 September.

This year’s event marks the first time Perth has hosted the biennial Trans-Tasman Test Series since it began in 1984.

Host facility Squashworld Mirrabooka is the perfect venue to see Australia’s best masters squash players in action, with 14 glass-back courts, viewing galleries, large changing rooms and a bar/lounge area. Squashworld Mirrabooka will also erect a marquee outside the venue to provide more areas for socialising.

This year’s domestic championships will set the stage for an even bigger year of squash in the City of Stirling in 2026.

This time next year, the World Squash Masters Championships 2026 will be played at Squashworld Mirrabooka and on a purpose-built all-glass squash court at Karrinyup Shopping Centre.

The World Squash Masters Championships is projected to attract more than 1,000 international and domestic competitors aged 35 and over alongside their families, spectators, officials, and sport tourists to the region.
