City of Stirling takes centre court for 2026 World Squash Masters Championships

The Australian Masters Squash Championships (AMSC) held at Squashworld Mirrabooka this month have set the stage for the nation’s best players to take on the world in 2026.
The City of Stirling will welcome the world’s top masters squash players when Mirrabooka co-hosts the World Squash Masters Championships from 30 August to 6 September next year.
The international competition will also feature a purpose-built all-glass squash court at Karrinyup Shopping Centre, providing a one-of-a-kind sporting showcase for visitors and fans.
City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said the City was proud to be sponsoring the championships.
“The City of Stirling is going to be the centre of the squash world next year – and we can’t wait,” Mayor Irwin said.
“From the games in Mirrabooka to the finals at the magnificent glass show court in Karrinyup, it’s going to be a fantastic week.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming a huge contingent of interstate and international visitors.”
Hosted in Perth for the first time, the event is expected to attract 1,500 international and interstate visitors from more than 55 countries.
Having the event on home soil is a rare opportunity for Perth’s top players to take home a world title in front of friends and family.
Among the host city’s top contenders to take home a championship for Australia is four-time World Masters Champion Sue Hillier, who claimed victory at the Open Women’s 60 – 64 division at the AMSC this year without dropping a game.
Hillier said she hoped to build on winning an “extra special” ninth Australian Masters title in her home city with a fifth World Masters title.
“Winning this year's AMSC gives me confidence that I am on the right track. Staying injury free is the key component,” Hillier said.
“It's a great opportunity for me to play the world masters at home and the key – win or lose – is to enjoy the event.”
Beyond the goal of winning another world title, Hillier said she was most excited to share her home city with the global squash community.
“This will be the first world championship I have played in Australia. It’ll be a great chance to show my national and international squash friends around Scarborough and the beautiful surrounding areas,” Hillier said.
