Unveiling the Terracotta Warriors

Stirling Libraries, in collaboration with RealChina Cultural Society Inc, invites you to take a step back through the centuries to uncover the awe-inspiring legacy of the Terracotta Warriors across three unique sessions this September.
The Terracotta Warriors have arrived in Western Australia, bringing over 200 ancient Chinese treasures spanning 2,000 years to Perth for one of the most spectacular exhibitions in the history of WA Museum Boola Bardip.
Stirling Libraries, in collaboration with RealChina Cultural Society Inc, invites you to take a step back through the centuries to uncover the awe-inspiring legacy of the Terracotta Warriors across three unique sessions this September.
Travel beyond the gaze of these silent guardians and into the heart of ancient China, unearthing the mysteries of the emperor who built them, the hidden realms they protect and the enduring legacy they represent as one of history’s most remarkable archaeological discoveries.
Each session opens a doorway into a forgotten empire, where myth and history intertwine and the echoes of 2,000 years still whisper through the stories shared.
Session 1: Making sense of the Terracotta Warriors
The Terracotta Warriors are one of history’s most remarkable archaeological finds – but their discovery only led to more questions. Who gave them life? Why were they made, and for whom did they stand guard? What kind of emperor could command such an eternal army?
In this one-hour talk, the Terracotta Warriors finally break their silence and bring 2,000 years of civilisation alive through the whispers of the silent army.
Session 2: 8,000 Warriors are just the gatekeepers: Inside the hidden imperial capital
After unravelling the story behind the Terracotta Warriors in the first session, cross the threshold into a hidden world and reveal what lies beyond these gatekeepers inside the hidden imperial capital. This vast underground army stands guard over their all-powerful emperor. In death, as in life, he created a burial complex spanning more than 50km2. What lies within remains a mystery beneath layers of rammed earth.
Witness the splendour of a sovereign’s vision and uncover the secrets he chose to take with him to eternity as this talk opens the door to that ancient silence in this second session.
Session 3: The first emperor behind the Terracotta Warriors
Journey behind the Terracotta Army to meet the emperor who shaped history. Commanding the bravest soldiers and wielding the era’s most advanced weapons, he ended five centuries of warfare to unify China into a single nation.
Through the Terracotta Warriors, this final session brings you face to face with this era-defining emperor.
