Summer in Stirling: The Adventure Edition

23 November 2025

Summer in the City of Stirling isn’t just about soaking up the sun, it’s about living it up. Whether you’re chasing thrills, exploring nature, or simply trying something new, this is your ultimate playground.

From salty swims to sky-high climbs, ninja runs to BMX tracks, there’s something here for every kind of adventurer.

Pick your pace, choose your challenge, and do more of what makes you feel like you.

Start with a splash

Summer and the beach? A match made in heaven. Perth’s coastline is calling with crystal waters, golden sands, and endless ways to dive in.

Kick off with a surf lesson at Scarborough Beach. Local legends like Go Surf Perth and Scarborough Beach Surf School make it easy for beginners to get started. If surfing’s not your thing, then try stand-up paddleboarding at Watermans Bay or just take in North Beach’s calm waters and scenic views, a great way to ease into the day.

When the sun’s high and the breeze is light, head to Mettam’s Pool. Sheltered by a natural reef, it’s perfect for beginner snorkellers. Slip on a mask and discover colourful fish and reef life just metres from shore.

Climb, swing and scale

Ready to level up? Portside Boulders in Osborne Park offers indoor climbing walls with a friendly, community vibe. Just around the corner, the Ninja Academy lets you channel your inner warrior with obstacle courses, parkour zones and strength training.

One of Perth’s most popular activities, Hamersley Public Golf Course offers nine or eighteen holes surrounded by lush parkland. Their new two-storey driving range features interactive game technology and is the only driving range in Western Australia where you can order drinks and bites to enjoy whilst you swing.

Explore the outdoors

Stirling’s green spaces are made for summer adventures. Walk, run or cycle along West Coast Drive, or head inland to Herdsman Lake, Jackadder Lake, or Lake Gwelup for birdwatching and wide-open trails. For a full guide to the City’s natural spaces, check out the Green Spaces itinerary.

Play without limits

When the heat hits, cool off indoors at Funlab Karrinyup. Tee off at Holey Moley, bowl a few frames at Strike Bowling, or dive into the immersive games at Archie Brothers Arcade. For something quirky, the Hijinx Hotel offers puzzle rooms and interactive challenges that are perfect for groups of all ages.

Outdoors, the Snake Pit Skate Bowl in Scarborough is summer hotspot for skaters and BMX riders with an epic ocean backdrop. Bring your wheels or just watch the action.

Ride the track – BMX your way

Stirling’s BMX tracks cater to all levels and are built for summer fun. Princess Wallington Reserve and Bina Parkland in Balga are great for younger riders and beginners, with open layouts and space to practise.

If you’re more advanced, head to Dianella Regional Open Space or Carine Regional Open Space for bigger circuits and jumps. The Newborough Rainer Skills Trail is designed for building confidence, with a mix of terrain and features to suit every rider.

Let the kids lead

Little adventurers will love the Star Swamp Play TrailLake Gwelup Story Trail and the Whale Playground on Scarborough Esplanade. These spaces combine nature, play and storytelling to spark imagination and movement.

Be sure to check out the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre to learn more about nature in a fun and interactive environment (This is a real hidden gem for young explorers!)
