Delivering valuable services for our community
From national championships to charity swims, new construction projects and State Government funding announcements, April was a busy month of delivering valuable services for our community.
The BMX Racing National Series was live-streamed on SBS On Demand as 740 riders young and old raced for glory, and 233 participants swam for 24 hours straight to raise more than $160,000 for charity at Scarborough Beach Pool. The City of Stirling's team (pictured) showed real commitment to 'Team Stirling' and to our organisation's culture of service.
Works at Jackadder Lake Reserve are underway, and will soon deliver new playground equipment, shade sails, picnic shelters and furniture, as well as upgrades to the landscaping of this much-loved area.
Councillor Michael Dudek and Acting Chief Executive Officer Stevan Rodic joined Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister, The Hon Sabine Winton MLA, to announce a $13.4 million investment ahead of the 2023-24 State Budget in Mirrabooka's Naala Djookan Healing Centre and the hub at Kalgoorlie to operate until June 2027.
The two hubs were launched in late 2020 as part of a one-stop-shop model, connecting people experiencing family and domestic violence with local services like mental health, housing, legal and financial counselling, alcohol and other drugs, and family and parenting support.
Looking ahead to May, the City is preparing the next year's budget, having already announced the major capital works project of the year - the redevelopment of Hamersley Public Golf Course.
Council remains mindful of cost of living pressures facing residents of the City and looks forward to sharing information about the projects and services that will deliver our vision to be a sustainable City with a local focus.
