Flag notice – Battle of the Coral Sea
To facilitate a commemorative ceremony for the Battle of the Coral Sea, the flag of the United States of America and the naval ‘White Ensign' will be flown at the City’s Administration Centre in place of the Western Australian and City of Stirling flags on Saturday 6 May 2023.
The ceremony will be run by the Naval Association of Western Australia to commemorate the Battle of the Coral Sea, which was a key turning point in the Second World War for the Allied Forces in the Pacific.
The event has been relocated to the City of Stirling Administration Centre courtyard from the Stirling Civic Gardens, which are currently the site of significant road and other service works.
The State and City of Stirling flags will be reinstated after the ceremony, which is expected to end mid-afternoon.
