Over $400,000 in arts and events funding to kick off the season

07 October 2021

Planning for the 2021/22 arts and events season is well underway, with the City of Stirling already approving over $400,000 in funding to support local events and creative projects across the City.

The City offers a number of grants and sponsorships to support and celebrate our creative and diverse community, including the Community Arts and Events Fund (CAEF) and Community Creativity Fund (CCF).

The CAEF aims to support creative arts, events and cultural projects which contribute to a vibrant, connected City and provide opportunities for communities to celebrate our unique lifestyle and places.

The CCF aims to support our local art and cultural industries, providing funds to individuals, collectives, small businesses, and incorporated organisations who work within the cultural industries or whose work/project directly supports the cultural industries.

Funding will be allocated to projects which support these industries and/or create opportunities for the wider City of Stirling community to connect and engage with arts and culture. As of the end of September, the City of Stirling has approved $411,000 through the CAEF, CCF and other event sponsorships.

Mayor Mark Irwin said that funding to support a vibrant local arts and events scene across the City was crucial to supporting local businesses and jobs, and encouraging our community to connect and engage with each other.

“The City of Stirling proudly sponsors, supports, and partners with event organisers to deliver some of the most iconic and recognised events of the Perth summer events calendar,” he said.

“Our events season well and truly kicks off this weekend in fact, with the Groundswell Festival bringing three days of surf, skate and urban culture to iconic Scarborough Beach.

“The Scarborough Sunset Markets, Groundswell Festival, Inglewood Monday Night Markets and Upmarkets, the Mulberry Tree Festival, Osborne Park Show, Balcatta Buzz Family Halloween Fete, and Summer X Salt Markets are just some of the many exciting and vibrant experiences that await Perth residents this summer.

“The City of Stirling’s multicultural and diverse community will be on full display as we support everything from the Brahms Violin Concerto, Colours of Italy 2021, Jazz in the Park, the Mirrabooka Community Markets, and the International Food and Cultural Festival.”

Round Four of the CAEF is currently open for applications and will close Friday 29 October 2021, providing funding for events that support:

  • Vibrant spaces and places
  • A creative and prosperous City
  • A culturally active and engaged community
  • Diversity and celebration.

The CCF is currently open and will close Friday 3 December 2021, providing funding for events that involve:

  • New arts and culture initiatives
  • Professional development
  • Creation of online content
  • Small events/activations.
