Bushfire advice - Woorooloo fire

The bushfire ADVICE for parts of the City of Stirling (Mirrabooka and Balga) has now been removed and while a Total Fire Ban remains in place, there continues to be no immediate danger to residents in the City of Stirling at this stage.

A bushfire ADVICE is current for people in parts of the City of Stirling, including Balga and Mirrabooka.

People in Balga, Mirrabooka and nearby areas can expect smoke and ash while this advice is in place. There is no immediate danger, but you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

To stay updated visit www.emergency.wa.gov.au, listen to the emergency broadcaster ABC Radio or 6PR 882, or for recorded emergency information call Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA (DFES) on 13 33 37.

What to do:

  • Stay alert and monitor your surroundings
  • Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames
  • Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible
  • Read through your bushfire survival plan
  • If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation gets worse
  • Stay in touch with friends and neighbours.

If driving:

  • Be extremely careful when driving through the area
  • Turn your headlights on and drive slowly if visibility is affected
  • Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions
  • If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears
  • If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call  Healthdirect Australia on 1800 022 222.
