Prepare for Paw-someness

08 October 2020

The City’s Paw-some Day Out returns to entertain local pets and their two-legged friends at Carine Regional Open Space on Sunday 25 October from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

While the location is new, all the popular crowd favourites from previous years will be back including a range of pet-related products and services, fun contests, musical entertainment, and delicious food and drink options for both pets and their owners.

Entry is a gold coin donation, and the proceeds will go to the non-profit group Paws for Diabetics, which is involved in training diabetic alert dogs.

Perth’s very own ‘dog whisperer’ Kathy Kopellis-McLeod will serve as special guest host for three fun-filled dog contests set to keep the crowd entertained:

9.30am – Vanity Fur’s Best Dressed Pooch Competition (Registrations from 8.45am to 9.20am)
10.30am – Paw-lympic Dogs (Registrations from 9.45am to 10.20am)
11.30am – Chow Down Challenge (Registrations from 10.45am to 11.20am).

The Aussie Pooch Mobile will offer a $20 dog wash service with proceeds going to Paws for Diabetics and Viva Photopgrahy will have a photo booth to snap a free photo with your pet.

For all pet owners from the City of Stirling who attend, there will also be an opportunity to renew their pet’s registration free for one year or receive a 50 percent discount off three-year registrations.

Keep an eye out for the City’s Community Safety marquee at the event, as staff will be handing out free show bags and giveaways.

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said 2020 marked the fifth year of the popular community event, and there were lots of reasons to be part of the fun including an opportunity to support local businesses.

“Along with loads of entertainment for dog lovers, the event features dozens of stalls for small local businesses to showcase their latest products and services to the community,” he said.

“Whether it’s treating your pooch to a nifty new collar, some nutritious eats or maybe some new grooming accessories, there will be a big range of stallholders to check out on the day.”

This year’s event sponsors include Furbaby Groom and Daycare, Vet West and Passing Paws Pet Cremation.

Everyone heading along to the event is encouraged to share their photos and videos on social media using the #cityofstirling and #pawsomedayout hashtags.
