City supports comedy gala fundraiser

23 January 2020

The City is getting behind an all-star live comedy fundraiser in Mount Lawley in early February that will support communities affected by Australia’s devastating bushfires.

The Bushfire Relief Comedy Gala at The Astor Theatre on Monday 3 February will feature an impressive line-up of local, national and international comedy performers including Peter Rowsthorn, Georgie Carroll and Suns of Fred.

Hosted by Ciaran Lyon’s from TV’s ‘Talkin’ Bout Your Generation’ series, the fundraiser will also feature popular Perth laugh-getters Janelle Koenig and Matt Dyktinski.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the City was quick to get on board as a sponsor of the event and to help promote it across the community.

“We have all read the tragic stories and seen the heartbreaking footage of the bushfires, so we’re proud to sponsor an event where 100 per cent of the proceeds going will be going bushfire-affected communities,” Mayor Irwin said.

“Looking at the roster of comedy stars set to appear, it’s going to be a great night out for a great cause.”

Tickets for the event are $29.95 each and now available via Ticketek at www.ticketek.com.au

Money raised from the event will go to the Australian Red Cross. The Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund enables the charity to support bushfire-affected communities meet their immediate needs including emergency cash grants.
