Next round of Kaleidoscope opportunities open for newcomers

The City of Stirling, City of Canning and the Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre are calling on highly skilled newcomers (migrants and refugees) for the next round of the Kaleidoscope Mentoring Program open now until 3 November 2019.

We are seeking motivated individuals who are looking to work with local professional mentors to help them achieve their employment goals.

The Kaleidoscope Mentoring Program, which is funded by the Department of Social Services, is the third phase of the successful Kaleidoscope Initiative and will see mentees paired with professional WA mentors in their chosen industry.

The aim of the program is to help them build an understanding of Australian workplace culture and recruitment practices and develop occupationally specific professional networks over a period of three months.

City of Stirling Director Community Development Michael Quirk said that since the program launched about 18 months ago, around 50 mentees have successfully completed the program, which is a great result.

“What is really exciting is that we have found that within three months of graduation, approximately 70% of graduates have then successfully found work within their profession,” Mr Quirk said.

“While this is not a recruitment program it is proving to be an effective way of building professional networks in WA and increasing knowledge of both recruitment practices and the state of each profession within WA which is ultimately leading to employment opportunities.”
