The City of Stirling covers an area of around 100 square kilometres from Scarborough, Trigg and North Beach in the west to Balga and Inglewood in the east and from Beach Road in the north to Herdsman in the south. Located between Lake Monger and Herdsman Lake, Glendalough is aptly named; it literally means "valley of the lakes"
Gwelup
The name Gwelup has been derived from the Aboriginal word "Gwelgannow" meaning to shift position
Hamersley
Hamersley was the first suburb in the City of Stirling to be guided by the principles of cul-de-sac design
Inglewood
Inglewood has a high heritage value, with cultural and historical significance
Innaloo
The name Innaloo was originally Njookenbooroo believed to be derived from the Aboriginal name for Herdsman Lake
Joondanna
Joondanna Heights was originally selected as the name for this suburb in a competition
Karrinyup
For many years the Lake Karrinyup Country Club was the only significant development in the area
Menora
Menora means a seven-branched Jewish candelabra and is strongly associated with the Jewish community
Mirrabooka
Mirrabooka takes its name from the Aboriginal name for the constellation known as the Southern Cross
Mount Lawley
Mount Lawley's premier retail precinct is situated on Beaufort Street centering on the Walcott Street intersection
Nollamara
A significant landmark in Nollamara is the water tower which is located next to Mount Yokine reservoir
North Beach
A former quarantine station for camels, North Beach became a holiday destination in the 1940s
Osborne Park
Osborne Park is a significant employment centre for the northern suburbs
Scarborough
Scarborough is home to the newly built Scarborough Beach Pool facility; the first of its kind in WA
Stirling
Stirling's many parks and reserves in the suburb cater for active and passive recreation
