Artist in Residence 2026 – Call for expressions of interest

The City of Stirling has delivered an artist in residence program biennially since 2021, supporting fifteen (15) artists to date. Now in its fourth iteration, the AIR program gives artists a space to explore their practice while activating community spaces and inspiring our residents.

The City of Stirling invites proposals from creative practitioners seeking to deepen and extend their practice through an immersive, site-responsive residency. Artists are encouraged to respond to a nominated studio location - engaging with the place, its history, geography, character and community.

  • Includes residency stipend and materials allowance
  • Open to artists across disciplines
  • 20 July – 27 September 2026 (9-week residency term).

Apply by 5.00pm, Monday 18 May 2026

Are you an artist or landowner looking to create a mural in the City of Stirling?

Murals are a great way to bring colour and life to empty walls, floors, fences and utility infrastructure. They can tell stories, highlight social issues, provide commentary, create a sense of place or simply bring beauty to a location where there was none.

Throughout the year, the City works with a number of community groups and businesses to deliver murals to bring life and vibrancy to an area. Before you get started on your mural project, there are some things to consider.

Read the City’s handy Mural Guide to find out more, and reach out to the City's Public Art Officer on 9205 8555 or at art@stirling.wa.gov.au for any mural enquiries.
