Living Locally Project

Celebrating what it means to live locally

The Living Locally Project is an initiative of Locally-led Stirling and encourages everyone to get involved in exploring what it means to live locally.

The City of Stirling works with residents and local communities to help create unique and liveable neighbourhoods that reflect the character of each local area. Living Locally supports this by bringing together the many programs, services and opportunities already on offer across the City, making it easier for people to see what’s happening nearby and how to get involved.

Delivered over six-weeks, Living Locally hosts a series of community events that build social connection, strengthens assets that make each local area unique, and helps identify opportunities to improve local liveability. The project encourages people to help create greener, safer, more active and waste‑wise ways of living together.

The project team engages at a local level, removing barriers to participation and improving circles of connection. By meeting people where they already spend time, such as parks, cafés and local centres, Living Locally makes it easier for everyone to get involved in ways that are welcoming, meaningful and inclusive.

FAQs

In collaboration with Ward Councillors, neighbourhood-based areas have been selected using data-informed insights to ensure we support local areas to build deeper connections, share local stories, and explore opportunities to collaborate on neighbourhood initiatives. Each Living Locally project seeks to celebrate and strengthen the unique sense of community, connection, and character within our local areas.

If you would like to suggest a local area that you believe would benefit from a Living Locally engagement, please email getinvolved@stirling.wa.gov.au

At the heart of this approach is celebrating our local areas and supporting locals to build deeper connections. Throughout each project, we’ll be popping up in places where you already spend time, such as your favourite parks and cafés.

All activities will be posted as events and available on your local suburb page along with this project page, throughout the engagement.

Locally-led Stirling is a local vision for everyone to get involved in shaping what it means to be ‘a local'.

At the heart of a Locally-led approach is an understanding that local people know what is important and what works locally. It supports two-way conversations that responds with a local focus rather than a specific project or issue-based focus. Community engagement in this way helps drive deeper connection, participation, and engagement at a local level to shape our service delivery and achieve our shared priorities.
