Community connection

Men's and Women's Shed allow members of the communiy to take part in woodwork projects, socialise with others and raise awareness of health issues in a safe, friendly environment.

Members craft various items from recycled or donated timber, using woodworking machines, power and hand tools. Funds raised through the sale of these items are invested back into the Shed to ensure that the facility remains a vibrant and valuable space for its members.

Autumn, Pensioner, Retirees and Senior Citizen’s Clubs operate from most of the City’s community centres. They provide a meeting place for our older people who wish to participate in social, educational and recreational activities (various membership and activity fees may apply).

Club activities can include concerts, cards, dancing, indoor bowls, bus trips and other great activities!

Find a list of available activities on the seniors clubs and activities.

The City provides opportunities for young people with a range of youth services and activities throughout the year.

Playgroups and toy libraries

Playgroups and toy libraries

  • Playgroups are for children aged 0 – 5 with their parents, caregivers or extended family members. They offer a space for socialisation through play. Playgroup WA supports and advocates for playgroups in Western Australia. Their aim is for playgroups to be inclusive and accessible to everyone.
  • Toy libraries allow you to borrow from a vast range of toys that have been designed to support your child’s skill development and imagination. They have a range of benefits, including:
    • Provide quality educational items for loan
    • Are inexpensive (usually an annual subscription is charged)
    • Principally cater for younger children
    • Have a range of items covering all stages of growth and development
    • Provide an opportunity to meet other caregivers to share concerns, interact with others and make new friends
    • Help parents and carers learn about the ages and stages of child development
    • Usually open on set days and hours.
