Little hands make big impact on World Environment Day

11 June 2026

Students from three local primary schools came together on World Environment Day to plant 60 mature trees and more than 450 plants at a Dianella reserve.

On Friday 5 June, 70 students and teachers from Dianella Heights, North Morley and Camboon primary schools joined forces at Wrigley Seabrook Reserve to make a lasting impact on their local environment.

Organised by the City of Stirling, the event marked the final stage of the park’s transition to a waterwise reserve, with expanded native garden beds and more efficient reticulation.

The students also got involved in educational and artistic activities, learning about water conservation and creating their own nature-inspired clay creatures with the help of Educated by Nature.

The next day, members of the community came together at Wrigley Seabrook Reserve to complete the garden bed plantings as part of the City’s community planting program.

The City holds a series of community planting events from June to August, inviting residents to help increase tree canopy and wildlife habitat while connecting with their community.

These sessions are suitable for experienced gardeners and novice planters alike. Tools and guidance are provided, but please bring your own gardening gloves and water bottle.
