The City of Stirling, in consultation with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), will undertake bushfire risk mitigation works across several major reserves to help protect the natural environment and surrounding properties.

Upcoming locations include Star Swamp Reserve, Breckler Park and Trigg Bushland Reserve.

All works are designed to reduce fuel loads while minimising impacts on native plants and wildlife.

Upcoming works include:

  • Grass tree fuel load reduction through cool burns (June to September 2026, weather permitting – see FAQs below)
  • Manual fuel reduction, including removal of dead vegetation
  • Maintenance of firebreaks, including hedging and pruning for safe vehicle access
  • Chemical weed control.

To receive notifications when a planned burn is taking place, subscribe to the City’s Planned Burn Notification service. Notifications are typically issued the day prior to works.
