Future Wembley

23 July 2025

Wembley is shaping a future built on greenery, connectivity, and community pride – a leafy suburb known for its welcoming streets and strong family presence.

By 2035, Wembley’s population is forecast to reach 2,982, reflecting a 5% increase that signals steady growth and continued appeal. With an average age of 37, close to the City average of 38, Wembley is home to a balanced and vibrant community. 88% of households are couple families, and 49% have children, while 37% of homes are privately rented, contributing to a diverse and inclusive neighbourhood. A standout feature is Wembley’s housing mix – half of all homes are stand-alone dwellings.

Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.

Liveability in Wembley is rated positively, with 78% of residents satisfied with life in the area and connectivity emerging as a top-performing attribute, reflecting the suburb’s access to local services and transport.

“Wembley’s green spaces and strong connections make it a wonderful place to live,” Councillor Lisa Thornton said.

“We’re focused on keeping it clean, safe, and well-connected for generations to come.”

A strong 70% of residents report a sense of belonging, while waste management initiatives and enhancing parks have been identified as top local issues for future consideration, with tree canopy coverage sitting at 16.1%.

“We’re committed to listening to the community and making sure Wembley continues to reflect the needs and values of its residents,” Councillor Teresa Olow said.
