Future Nollamara

Nollamara is shaping a future built on diversity and affordability – a peaceful, multicultural neighbourhood where people from all walks of life feel at home.
By 2035, Nollamara’s population is forecast to reach 15,638 – an 11% increase that reflects its growing appeal to families and renters. With an average age of 34, younger than the City average of 38, the suburb is home to a vibrant and evolving community: 77% of households are couple families, and 37% have children. 46% of homes are privately rented, offering flexibility and accessibility. Nollamara is also home to a significant number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents, whose deep cultural connections and contributions enrich the community’s identity and spirit.
Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.
Liveability in Nollamara is rated highly, with 81% of residents satisfied with life in the area and connectivity emerging as a top-performing attribute.
“People in Nollamara value peace, diversity, and connection,” Deputy Mayor Suzanne Migdale said.
“We’re working to protect those strengths while supporting a safe and inclusive future.”
A solid 57% of residents report a sense of belonging, and crime prevention has been identified as a key focus for the future.
“Nollamara’s future is about creating safer streets and stronger community ties,” Councillor Joe Ferrante said.
“We’re listening to residents and investing in what matters most to them.”
