Future Mirrabooka

23 July 2025

Mirrabooka is stepping into the future with momentum – a suburb known for its cultural diversity, welcoming spirit, and easy access to essential services.

By 2035, Mirrabooka’s population is forecast to reach 9,417 – a 10% increase that reflects its steady growth and evolving role in the City’s urban landscape. With an average age of 36, the suburb is home to a vibrant mix of families: 75% of households are couple families, and 51% have children, and 30% of homes are privately rented. Mirrabooka’s multicultural identity is a standout feature, with 58% of residents born overseas and 60% speaking another language at home.

To cater for this growth, urban transformation in Mirrabooka presents an opportunity to create a more connected, sustainable, and liveable suburb. Encouraging more people to live closer to jobs and transport delivers better amenities, more diverse housing options, and safer, greener streets.

Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.

“Mirrabooka is a place where everyone belongs,” Councillor Andrea Creado said.

“Our focus is on building safer, more connected neighbourhoods that reflect the strength of our community.”

With 66% of residents satisfied with liveability, and 61% reporting a sense of belonging, locals have also identified crime prevention as a focus for the future.

“I've always thought that the quaint suburbia in Mirrabooka was a great place to raise a family,” Councillor Michael Dudek said.

“But in the past, the upkeep of the local centres had been lacking. The fact that we're making big changes around the shopping and sporting complex here, is a great sign for the future growth of this community.”
