Future Inglewood

23 July 2025

Inglewood is stepping into the future with vibrancy – a suburb known for its friendly atmosphere, strong connections, and thriving local economy.

By 2035, Inglewood’s population is forecast to reach 6,789 – a 10% increase that reflects its growing role in the City’s urban landscape. With an average age of 39, the suburb is home to many established families: 86% of households are couple families, and 45% have children. A notable 34% of homes are privately rented, contributing to a dynamic and inclusive community. Inglewood also supports a strong local business scene, with 492 businesses centred around Beaufort Street – a bustling commercial hub that caters to daily needs and fosters local enterprise.

To cater for this growth, urban transformation in Inglewood presents an opportunity to create a more connected, sustainable, and liveable suburb. Encouraging more people to live closer to jobs and transport delivers better amenities, more diverse housing options, and safer, greener streets.

Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.

“Inglewood is a suburb that blends heritage charm with modern convenience,” Councillor Damien Giudici said.

“Our local businesses, walkable streets and active community make it a place people love to live.”

With 84% of residents satisfied with the liveability of the area, and 48% reporting a sense of belonging, locals have also identified roads and traffic management as a focus for the future.

“We’re always working closely with the community,” Councillor David Lagan said.

“Inglewood’s future will be shaped by the people who live here, and we’re committed to supporting that journey together.”
