Future Dianella

Dianella is planning ahead with purpose – a suburb known for its accessibility, family-friendly atmosphere, and growth.
By 2035, Dianella’s population is forecast to reach 26,209 – a 2% increase that builds on its status as the most populous suburb in the City of Stirling. With an average age of 43, Dianella is home to many established families: 84% of households are couple families, 45% have children, and 24% privately rent. The suburb also boasts the highest number of schools in the City – 14 in total – reinforcing its reputation as a hub for learning and growth.
To cater for this growth, urban transformation in Dianella presents an opportunity to create a more connected, sustainable, and liveable suburb. Encouraging more people to live closer to jobs and transport delivers better amenities, more diverse housing options, and safer, greener streets.
Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.
“Dianella is a suburb that blends convenience with community,” Councillor David Lagan said.
“With great schools, strong family networks, and a large population, it’s well-positioned for a vibrant future.”
With 84% of residents satisfied with the liveability of the area, and 48% reporting a sense of belonging, locals have also identified trees and greening as a focus for the future.
“We’re always listening to the community and planning with care,” Councillor Damien Giudici said.
“Whether it’s enhancing green spaces or optimising local streetscapes, our focus is on supporting a suburb that continues to flourish.”
