Future Churchlands

Churchlands is stepping into the future with boldness – a suburb known for its care, diversity, and strong environmental spirit.
By 2035, Churchlands is expected to grow to 4,231 residents – a 7% increase that reflects its steady appeal. With an average age of 41, Churchlands is home to many established families. In fact, 86% of households are couple families, and 51% have children. While 26% of homes are privately rented, the suburb maintains a strong sense of stability and connection. Already boasting the third highest volunteering rate in the City, Churchlands is well-positioned to harness this civic energy as it grows.
“Churchlands is a suburb that gives back,” Councillor Elizabeth Re said.
“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of the community, and their commitment is what makes this place so special and peaceful.”
Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.
Liveability in Churchlands is already rated highly, with 87% of residents satisfied with life in the area and connectivity a top-performing attribute. A strong 70% of residents report a sense of belonging – while also identifying roads and traffic management as a focus for the future.
“We’re working closely with the community to address local priorities,” Councillor Stephanie Proud said.
“Our goal is to support a suburb that’s easy to move through and safe for everyone into the future.”
