Future Carine

23 July 2025

Carine is looking ahead with confidence – a suburb ready to shape a future that builds on its strengths of safety, greenery, and family life.

By 2035, Carine’s population is expected to reach 8,223 – an 8% increase that reflects the suburb’s enduring appeal. With an average age of 42, Carine is one of the more established communities in the City. It’s a place where families thrive: 91% of households are couple families, 52% have children, and 8 out of 10 homes are stand-alone dwellings. Just 10% of homes are privately rented, contributing to a strong sense of stability and long-term community connection.

Moving forward, preparation of a new Local Planning Strategy will set out the intent and objectives for land use planning in response to changes in population, housing, businesses, employment, transport, community facilities and infrastructure.

Liveability in Carine is rated highly, with 86% of residents satisfied with life in the area. A top attribute is its generous public space.

“Carine is one of those rare suburbs that offers both tranquillity and connection,” Councillor Chris Hatton said.

“It’s a place where families grow, neighbours know each other, and the natural environment is part of everyday life.”

While 59% of residents report a sense of belonging, there’s an opportunity to strengthen community ties even further. Road and traffic management has emerged as a top local focus.

“We’re listening to what matters most to the Carine community,” Councillor Karlo Perkov said.

“Whether it’s improving local road use or protecting green spaces, our focus is on preserving the qualities people love while planning for the future.”
