The City of Stirling is ready to welcome the world to Perth when it plays a major a role in the 2027 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG).
Around 20,000 athletes and supporters from more than 70 countries will converge on Perth for 10 days of competition and camaraderie at the 22nd WPFG.
It will be the third time an Australian city has hosted the Games after Adelaide in 2007 and Melbourne in 1995.
The 2027 WPFG will bring together 8,500 active, retired and volunteer law enforcement and emergency services personnel to compete across more than 60 sports from 12-21 March 2027.
The City’s iconic coastline, idyllic bushland and first-rate sports facilities will be the setting for several events on the program, including:
- Beach volleyball at Scarborough Beach
- 3x3 basketball at Scarborough Beach
- Open-water swimming along our coastline
- Surfing at Trigg Beach
- Orienteering in Trigg Bushland
- Softball at Mirrabooka International Softball Centre.
In addition to the sporting events, the City will host an international beach party at Scarborough Beach to close the Games, offering visitors a quintessential Australian experience.
The City of Stirling is a Gold Sponsor of the Games.
The benefits of the City’s support will include international exposure for local destinations and an economic injection for local businesses.
In a video marking one year out from the 2027 WPFG, Mayor Mark Irwin invited all visitors to enjoy the best of Perth’s coastal lifestyle.
“We’ve got incredible bars, cafes and restaurants just behind us here at Scarborough Beach, and of course, the activity here never ends,” Mayor Irwin said.
“We can’t await to welcome everyone from around the world to the World Police and Fire Games.”
