WA Government launches ECU Mount Lawley Redevelopment Master Plan

Up to 1,100 new homes will be built on the former ECU Mount Lawley site in the City of Stirling under a long-term plan released today by the WA Government.
The ECU Mount Lawley Redevelopment Master Plan was shaped by extensive consultation, including more than 300 public submissions and input from a Community Reference Group.
In addition to a range of new housing options, the finalised Master Plan also features a new primary school and opportunities for small scale retail and hospitality.
The Master Plan represents the WA Government’s long-term vision for a neighbourhood that brings together diverse housing options and quality open spaces connected by safe and inclusive transport networks.
Approximately 15 per cent of the 18.6-hectare site will be dedicated to public open space and green corridors, according to the Master Plan.
Several key creative assets will be retained and upgraded, including the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts buildings, library and administration centre.
The WA Government will develop a business case for establishing a Creative Industries Hub at the retained buildings to foster creativity, collaboration and innovation.
The business case will also explore opportunities to partner with Mount Lawley Senior High School and its Specialist Visual and Performing Arts Program.
“The ECU Mount Lawley Redevelopment Master Plan seizes on the opportunity to deliver more housing in a targeted location, while preserving heritage and delivering significant public open space,” Housing and Works Minister John Carey said.
