Staff and Councillors recognised at WALGA 2025 Local Government Awards

“These awards are a reflection of the passion and dedication of our people – from the Councillors who represent our community to the staff who work hard to make it an even better place,” City of Stirling CEO Stevan Rodic.
City of Stirling leaders have been honoured at the WA Local Government Association’s 2025 Local Government Awards.
The awards ceremony, held at WA Museum Boola Bardip on Saturday, recognised the significant contributions of elected members and officers from among WA’s 137 local governments.
The City received seven awards overall – the most of any local government – including four of the 19 Eminent Service Awards presented on the night.
The Eminent Service Award celebrates distinguished service and a demonstrated record of commitment and leadership in the sector.
The City’s recipients were Crs Stephanie Proud JP, Cr David Lagan, Cr Joe Ferrante and CEO Stevan Rodic.
The Merit Award, which celebrates notable service to local government, was presented to Cr Chris Hatton and the City’s Manager Community Development, Chris Brereton.
Cr Elizabeth Re received the Evelyn Parker Women of Excellence Award from the Australian Local Government Women’s Association WA in recognition of the vital role of women in representing the diverse needs of local communities.
Mr Rodic, who started as a planner on the City’s front counter 28 years ago, congratulated Councillors and staff on their hard-earned recognition.
“These awards are a reflection of the passion and dedication of our people – from the Councillors who represent our community to the staff who work hard to make it an even better place,” Mr Rodic said.
WALGA President Karen Chappel AM JP said the annual awards were an opportunity to recognise those who went above and beyond.
“Local governments are highly accountable to the communities they represent, and our 2025 recipients embody the dedication and hard work undertaken by the sector each and every day to positively contribute to the wellbeing of their communities,” Ms Chappel said.
