Meet the City of Stirling’s 42nd Council

The City of Stirling’s 42nd Council is ready for action, with a new Deputy Mayor, a new voice on Council and a packed agenda to see out 2025.
The community delivered a vote of confidence to the Council at this month's 2025 local government elections, with six incumbent Councillors returned to their seats and one new addition.
In Inglewood Ward, small business owner and admitted lawyer Daniela Ion won a close contest over incumbent David Lagan, a former two-time Deputy Mayor.
“It’s clear that Daniela is passionate about her community and honoured by the opportunity to represent Inglewood Ward,” City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said.
“I’m confident she can continue the great work of David Lagan, who has been an asset to the local government sector and a strong community advocate over the last 14 years.”
The 42nd Council was sworn in last week at a Special Council Meeting which also involved the election of the Deputy Mayor.
Cr Karlo Perkov was voted in as Deputy Mayor by his fellow Councillors after winning his fourth election in Hamersley Ward.
“Karlo is very active and accessible within the Hamersley Ward he represents, both in person and on social media,” Mayor Irwin said.
“He goes above and beyond in public, but he also puts the work in behind the scenes and that’s why he enjoys so much support from his community and Council.
“I’m looking forward to having his support as Deputy Mayor and I’d also like to thank Cr Suzanne Migdale for her fantastic work in the role over the last two years.”
On Tuesday this week, Councillors were appointed as members of the City’s key committees and delegates to various external bodies.
Cr Andrea Creado is the new Presiding Member of the Community and Resources Committee, while Cr Suzanne Migdale was appointed Presiding Member of the Planning and Development Committee.
“There are some significant items expected to come to Council in the next two months, from our new Reconciliation Action Plan to the Scarborough-Trigg coastal boardwalk,” Mayor Irwin said.
“We’re also in the middle of a major review of our Strategic Community Plan in close collaboration with our community.
“Our residents expect us to work hard and deliver first-rate results, so now that the election and committee appointments are out of the way, it’s time to get on with it.”
