Join us for Boodja Wakaniny (talking on country)

08 May 2026

Join Nyoongar-Yamatji man and cultural literacy consultant Preston Culbong for our Boodja Wakaniny: Nyoongar culture workshop for adults at Mount Flora Regional Museum on Friday 15 May.

Boodja Wakaniny in Nyoongar means 'talking on country'. Nyoongar peoples have lived in the south-west of Western Australia for more than 60,000 years and Aboriginal people are the oldest continuing culture in the world.

Running from 10.00am to 12.00 noon, Boodja Wakaniny is an opportunity to discover Nyoongar knowledge, language and stories related to the creation of the waterways, caring for boodja (country), kep kaartdijin (water knowledge), caring for water resources and more.

The City’s Waterwise Communities Officer will also be offering a pop-up activity with an interactive board game and prizes.

Bookings are essential as places are limited. Tea and coffee will be provided.
