Grow together this winter

Are you looking for environmental volunteering opportunities? As the days cool and winter rains arrive, it’s time for people to come together for planting, preparing the soil and mulching at our community gardens, coastal and bushland sites.
Our four-part video series shines a light on what it’s really like to volunteer in community gardens and ‘Friends of’ groups. Across the videos, volunteers talk about caring for local places, sharing knowledge, and enjoying the simple reward of working outdoors with others who care about the environment.
Environmental volunteering takes many forms. You might help restore bushland, protect native plants, improve habitat for wildlife or grow food in a community garden.
Some days are hands on and active; others are quiet and reflective. What they all share is a strong sense of purpose and belonging.
Now is a great time to join. Cooler weather makes outdoor work more comfortable, plants establish more easily and groups are actively preparing for the months ahead.
No experience is needed – just an interest in nature and a willingness to be part of a team. If you’ve been thinking about giving volunteering a go, now is the time!
