For nights with a Little More Soul

More soul. More rhythm. More reasons to stay out a little longer. Not every night out is about ticking off a dinner reservation and heading home.
Sometimes it's the sound of a saxophone drifting through a wine bar. Sometimes it's discovering a new artist before everyone else does. Sometimes it's settling in for one more set, one more song and one more drink because the atmosphere is just right.
If your perfect night includes live music, good company and venues with real character, this itinerary is for you.
Start with the headline act: JazzConnect
From 28–30 August, JazzConnect transforms Scarborough Beach into one giant live music precinct, with more than 20 free and ticketed performances spread across iconic beachfront venues, bars and cafés all within walking distance. Expect everything from jazz and soul to swing, Latin rhythms and late-night performances, all set against the backdrop of the Sunset Coast.
Whether you're catching a morning coffee concert, settling in for a long lunch accompanied by live music, or following the sounds of a sunset performance along the foreshore, JazzConnect is the ultimate excuse to swap a quiet night in for a weekend full of soul.
JazzConnect is proudly sponsored by the City of Stirling and produced by ArtConnect.
Keep the rhythm going at Brighton Wine Bar
The beauty of Scarborough's live music scene is that the good vibes don't stop when the festival does.
At Brighton Wine Bar, live jazz is part of the weekly rhythm, with free performances on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Pull up a seat, order a glass of wine and let the soundtrack do the rest.
It's intimate, relaxed and built for lingering, whether you're exploring the thoughtfully curated Australian wine list, sharing a few plates or settling in as the evening's jazz soundtrack unfolds.
Discover your new favourite artist at the Indi
Few venues have live music woven into their DNA quite like the Indian Ocean Hotel.
From laid-back acoustic Wednesday sessions through to Sunday afternoon gigs featuring Australian artists, the Indi has long been one of Perth's most loved live music institutions. Grab dinner before the show, settle in with friends and discover everything from emerging local talent to established touring acts in a venue that's been championing live music for decades.
Tuesday nights done differently
If your week could use a little more swing, head to Jazz Club at The Milk Bar, Civic Hotel.
Running every Tuesday evening, this weekly session brings together jazz lovers, talented musicians and a welcoming crowd for an evening where the music takes centre stage. Arrive early for a bite to eat and ease into a night of classic jazz, contemporary sounds and unexpected musical moments.
Make a date with the Perth International Jazz Festival
For those who like their live music with a little extra prestige, the Perth International Jazz Festival delivers world-class performances from internationally acclaimed artists.
With some of the headline performances at this year's festival hosted at the iconic Astor Theatre, it's a chance to experience some of Australia's and the world's finest jazz acts close to home. Start the evening with dinner at Le Rebelle, where French-inspired dishes and old-world charm set the perfect tone before crossing the road for a night of world-class live music.
Sunday sessions with heart
Looking for something a little different? The Perth Folk and Roots Club* regularly fills Sunday afternoons and evenings at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club with storytelling, acoustic performances and musicians who know how to hold a room.
The atmosphere is warm, unpretentious and all about the music.
Finish beachside at Scarborough
Scarborough Beach Bar keeps the soundtrack rolling with live music every weekend, making it the perfect place to end the weekend. Share a few plates, settle in for dinner or simply soak up the atmosphere with friends as live music, coastal views and good company carry you well into the evening.
