City playgrounds spring back to life

Since the end of last summer, the City has installed 15 new playgrounds across 11 suburbs.
Spring is almost here, which means it’s the perfect time to get back outdoors and reconnect with one of your local playgrounds.
The City understands how important playgrounds are for kids, providing gathering spaces, diverse and quality play experiences and connections to nature and the community.
That’s why we’ve been hard at work replacing ageing playgrounds with new ones that are fun, safe and provide a variety of play opportunities through our Playground Renewal Program.
Since the end of last summer, the City has installed new playgrounds in reserves across 11 suburbs:
- Balcatta
- Balga
- Carine
- Dianella
- Gwelup
- Karrinyup
- Mirrabooka
- Dampier Park
- Mirrabooka Regional Open Space (East) near Belthorn Terrace
- Nollamara
- Stirling
- Trigg
- Wembley Downs
To help you scout out your next playground visit, the City has shared a gallery showing the 15 colourful new playgrounds below.
The City’s playground upgrade program is reviewed and updated annually and playgrounds are prioritised for renewal based on a range of factors including condition and age.
Wondering if your local playground will be next? The list of playground upgrades planned for 2025/26 were recently announced on the Playground Renewal Program project page.
