Celebrating diversity and belonging in the City of Stirling for Harmony Week 2026

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate the cultural diversity that makes our City stronger and renew our commitment to an inclusive community, where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
The City of Stirling has a wide range of free events and activities planned for Harmony Week 2026 that reflect the multicultural make-up of WA’s largest local government.
Running from 15-21 March in WA, Harmony Week is an occasion that resonates strongly across the City, where around 40 per cent of residents were born overseas and around 30 per cent speak a language other than English at home – figures that are well above state and national averages.
From Aboriginal Cultural Storytime for children to an African drumming workshop at Scarborough Beach, the City’s line-up of free Harmony Week events encourages residents to explore and experience its rich diversity.
Other highlights include an art exhibition by Edmund Rice Centre WA students, traditional Chinese tea-making experiences and a screening of Australian comedy classic The Castle.
A Harmony Week migration clinic will be held at Stirling Libraries – Mirrabooka, featuring information on visa pathways and migration processes followed by an open Q&A session.
“The theme of Harmony Week is ‘Everyone Belongs’ and that's an incredibly important message right now,” Mayor Mark Irwin said.
“The City puts a lot of effort into removing barriers to belonging by supporting new migrants and trying to foster a harmonious community where all residents feel welcome, safe and supported.
“This Harmony Week, I’d encourage people to go out of their way to learn about another culture and consider what they can do to make sure others feel like they belong.”
On Sunday 21 March, landmarks across the City will be lit up in orange to mark Harmony Week and the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
