“The City of Stirling’s flagship Art Awards and Exhibition offers a visual feast for the community to enjoy that encourages audiences to see the world from others’ perspectives,” Deputy Mayor Suzanne Migdale said.

The City of Stirling will open entries for its 17th biennial Art Awards and Exhibition 2025 on Friday 1 August.

Offering more than $14,000 in prizes, the exhibition offers a prestigious platform for established artists and emerging talent to share their creativity and unique perspectives with the community.

Submissions are invited from Western Australian artists aged 18 and older until Friday 22 August 2025 or until entry capacity is reached.

Winning entries will be announced at the Art Awards Presentation on 30 October 2025, where up to 170 shortlisted submissions will be vying for the following awards:

  • City of Stirling Acquisitive Award $8,000
  • Highly Commended Second Prize Award $2,500
  • Highly Commended Third Prize Award $1,500
  • Rotary Club of Karrinyup Local Artist Award $1,000
  • Oxlades Young Artist Award (18-25 years) $1,000
  • Westfield People’s Choice Award $500.

Shortlisted artworks will feature in the prestigious Art Awards and Exhibition from 31 October to 9 November 2025.

Deputy Mayor Suzanne Migdale said the awards were a visual celebration of WA’s creative spirit.

“The City of Stirling’s flagship Art Awards and Exhibition offers a visual feast for the community to enjoy that encourages audiences to see the world from others’ perspectives,” Deputy Mayor Migdale said.

“We recognise the importance of arts and culture in supporting a vibrant and active community, but equally important is the need to support and platform local artists.

“We have done this by making entry free and ensuring artists receive 100 per cent of the sale price of their work.

“More than 1,300 people visited the exhibition in 2023, so we hope to see established and emerging artists alike take advantage of this opportunity to have their work appreciated by the wider community.”

Participation is limited to a single entry per artist with total entries capped at 350. Artists who have been shortlisted for an award will be notified the week beginning 8 September 2025.

Artworks in all visual media are welcome, but diptych/triptych or digitally displayed artworks such as video will not be accepted.
