Waste Engagement
Join us this September and October for the Love Your Clothes: Repair. Restore. Rewear. series, a collection of community workshops designed to help people extend the life of their clothing through repair, restoration and creative renewal.
Throughout the series, you'll learn practical skills to reduce textile waste and get more wear from the items you already own. The series wraps up with the Great Global Mend event, bringing the community together to celebrate mending, repair and keeping textiles in use for longer.

Love Your Clothes | Decluttering: Living Better With Less
To kick off the series, join sustainability educator Laura Monisse for an engaging workshop on decluttering with purpose. Learn practical strategies to clear your home and wardrobe while making informed decisions about what to keep, donate, repair, recycle or responsibly dispose of.
Together, we'll explore:
- Why clutter accumulates
- The benefits of a more organised home
- Practical strategies for decluttering
- How to responsibly donate, recycle and dispose of unwanted items
- Ways to keep clothing and textiles out of landfill
- Simple habits to reduce waste and make the most of what you own.
This interactive session offers opportunities to reflect on your habits, share ideas and connect with others while tackling common decluttering challenges. Whether you're clearing out an overflowing wardrobe or looking to reduce waste at home, this workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to declutter responsibly and make more sustainable choices.

Love Your Clothes | Visible Mending workshop
Hosted by Elise from Hoop Hoop Hooray Join us for a hands-on, heart-filled workshop where creativity meets sustainability! Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned “sewist,” this session is your chance to learn the art of visible mending, a beautiful way to repair, personalise, and extend the life of your garments.
Elise’s mission is to normalise mending and inspire others to keep textiles out of landfill while celebrating the stories our clothes carry.
- Learn via an introduction to visible mending techniques and terminology, a how-to creatively repair or embellish your garments, inspiration from Elise and fellow participants
- All workshop materials (including Sashiko needle and thread) are include as well as basic visible mending notes in a welcoming, supportive environment to learn and share
- Bring along garments or home textiles with rips or holes (e.g. jeans, shirts, sweater, tea towels). Optional: embellishments like buttons, patches, or meaningful fabrics and your imagination and enthusiasm!

Love Your Clothes | T-shirt to Tote Bag Upcycling workshop for kids
Join the Waste Engagement team this school holidays! Give an old favourite t-shirt a brand new purpose! In this fun, hands-on workshop, attendees will transform a pre-loved t-shirt into a reusable tote bag while learning about upcycling and textile waste reduction. Best of all, you'll create a practical tote bag to take home and use again and again.

Bring an old or favourite t-shirt from home that you'd like to give a second life! This workshop is suitable for children aged 4 and above, and all children must be supervised by a parent or guardian for the duration of the workshop.
Love Your Clothes | Intro to Sewing workshop
Ready to learn to sew? Always wanted to learn to use a sewing machine but don't know where to start? This relaxed, hands-on workshop is designed for absolute beginners as well as those looking for a refresher on the fundamentals of sewing.
In this three-hour workshop, Angela from Sew Impressed will guide you through the basics of using a domestic sewing machine and essential sewing techniques, helping you build confidence while creating a practical project to take home.

Love Your Clothes | Leather Care and Restoration workshop
Learn about leather care and restoration to bring your leather items back to life! Join Josephine from Skip Hop Fox for an engaging, hands-on workshop that revives the valuable but often forgotten skill of caring for leather goods.
Designed for adults of all experience levels, this workshop will give you the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to care for your leather items and help them last for years to come. Wherever possible, materials are sourced, reused or repurposed to reflect the workshop's sustainability values.
In an era of fast consumption and disposable products, caring for what we already own is one of the simplest ways to reduce waste. Well-made leather goods can last a lifetime and are often passed down through generations. By preserving and maintaining these items, we honour the resources used to create them and build more mindful consumption habits.
