Join us for a fun and hands-on in-person workshop where we explore the magic of clay and how it connects us through touch and memory.

Join artist-in-residence May Kee Cheah / Sova Studio for a gentle hands-on clay workshop exploring memory, place and connection to Scarborough. Participants will create small clay pieces using texture, mark-making and simple handbuilding techniques. These individual pieces will later be fired and brought together as part of a collective hanging wind-chime installation for May’s Artist in Residence project, Holding Sense: Clay, Touch, Memory.

No clay experience is needed. All materials will be provided.

What you will make: Small clay tiles, discs or beads with textures, marks or memories inspired by Scarborough, the coast, home, movement, sound or belonging.

Your piece will become part of a community wind-chime installation shown during the residency and final exhibition.

This is a great chance to get creative, meet new people, and dive into the tactile experience of molding your own piece of art. Bring your curiosity and open hands – let’s make some memories together!
