The City of Stirling’s Animal Care Facility (ACF) provides a temporary home for lost and stray animals, as well as an adoption service for unclaimed dogs and cats.
Animal Care Facility
If your registered and microchipped dog or cat is found in the City of Stirling, our rangers will take it to the Animal Care Facility (ACF) and attempt to contact you promptly. Animals unclaimed after 7 days may be listed for adoption in the lost animals section below.
Please be aware that the ACF is cashless. Payments must be made by debit or credit card. If you need to pay cash, visit the Administration or Operations Centre before collecting your pet. Weekend collections require alternate payment arrangements if paying by cash.
Stray and roaming dogs can pose risks to the community, wildlife, and other pets. If you find a dog or cat, and it’s safe to do so, confine it and call our Contact Centre with a description. Cats are permitted to wander freely unless in identified cat prohibited areas.
If you believe a cat is unowned or unregistered, contact us at (08) 9205 8555. The City does not collect trapped cats from private property or accept unwanted or surrendered cats.
Appointments are required to visit the ACF. Please call (08) 9205 8555 to book.
If your dog or cat has been impounded, owners can contact the City during business hours to arrange an appointment for collection. Animals can only be released to their legal owner and collection from the Animal Care Facility is by appointment only.
How to arrange collection of your pet
To organise the collection of your dog or cat, you must first contact the City.
The preferred option is to call the City’s main phone line on (08) 9205 8555 during business hours. You will be transferred to the Animal Care Facility, where staff can confirm details and make an appointment for collection.
Alternatively, you can submit a Customer Enquiry Form via the City’s website.
Please note that Customer Enquiry Forms have a response timeframe of up to 7 business days, which may delay the return of your pet. For this reason, calling is strongly recommended if you believe your animal has been impounded.
Please only contact the City regarding a ‘to be claimed’ animal if you are the animal’s owner or nominated by the owner to collect on their behalf (proof required).
