Upgrades shed new light on Aintree Eglinton Reserve

Aintree Eglinton Reserve in Hamersley has received a glow-up with the recent upgrades to the playing ground’s lighting infrastructure.
The City has replaced the existing floodlighting with environmentally friendly LED lighting, which provides an average of 100 lux lighting to the oval. This allows for night training and match play for all codes of community level football in line with the relevant Australian standards.
The upgrades to Aintree Eglinton Reserve will benefit the various sporting clubs that use the grounds, such as the Hamersley Carine Amateur Football Club and the Carine Cats Junior Football Club, allowing them to grow programs such as their Junior Female programs, which are traditionally played on a Friday night.
The new poles will also feature a lower-powered recreational floodlight to support community access for recreation while sport floodlighting is not in use. The greater pole heights and new LED lighting will better control light spill and glare, improving the experience for reserve users while minimising impact on adjacent residents.
This recreational lighting will operate daily from sunset to 9.00pm, supporting greater use of the reserves, particularly in winter when daylight hours are reduced.
The Aintree Eglinton Reserve infrastructure upgrades were partly funded through the State Government’s PlayOn WA initiative, with additional funding from the City.
