Smooth ride for WA Bike Month in the City

The City of Stirling proudly celebrated WA Bike Month with our community throughout October.
With a packed program of free events, workshops and family-friendly activities across our suburbs, there was something for everyone to enjoy!
Families, children and adults alike had fun riding the Blender Bike, exploring the self-guided scavenger hunt through Star Swamp Bushland and testing their skills on the Bike Skills Obstacle Courses at the Stirling Farmers Market.
Our Active Transport team was thrilled to witness more than 10 children shed their training wheels during the drop-in Learn to Ride sessions at the Mirrabooka Friday Market.
One parent said the Learn to Ride session was “exactly what I was looking for after failing multiple times trying to get the little one off her training wheels. In the space of an hour, she was riding confidently and didn’t want to go home – huge thank you”.
Free bike valet parking at Groundswell Festival presented by the City of Stirling and complimentary bike mechanic services at all events were also a big hit.
These initiatives helped improve the safety and accessibility of cycling for hundreds of participants.
One rider said: “The secure parking provided was fantastic and the free bike mechanic was awesome. Thank you! I plan on using my bike more often for trips to Scarborough and also plan to contact the Bike Mechanic.”
If you’ve been out and about on your bike this October, we’d love to hear about it.
