Provide your feedback on heritage protections in Mount Lawley, Inglewood and Menora

The City of Stirling is inviting the community to participate in an upcoming consultation on proposed updates to local planning policies that help protect the heritage character of Mount Lawley, Inglewood and Menora.
These proposed changes are part of the City’s preparation for Local Planning Scheme No.4 (LPS4), which is expected to come into effect in the second half of 2026.
Two draft policies are proposed for community consultation:
- Local Planning Policy – Character Retention in Mount Lawley and Menora
- Local Planning Policy – Character Retention in Inglewood.
The updates aim to keep the current level of heritage protection, clearly define heritage area boundaries, align with State requirements, and make the policies easier to understand.
The drafts also include clearer guidance on fencing, restrictions on visible roller shutters, more precise identification of pre 1960 contributing buildings, and sensible exemptions for minor works such as small patios, like for like reroofing or outbuilding demolition.
These refinements support the City’s broader effort to preserve the established character of these neighbourhoods.
This is an opportunity to understand how the proposed changes may affect development in heritage areas and to share your views before the policies are finalised.
After submissions are received, the City will review all feedback and present a report to Council, which will then decide whether to adopt the updated policies.
They will come into effect once LPS4 is gazetted.
Details on how to view the draft policies and make a submission are available on the Draft LPS4 and Local Planning Policies Review project page.
The City encourages all residents to take part and provide feedback on the future of their local heritage areas.
