Osborne Ward Councillors Lisa Thornton and Teresa Olow joined the Hon David Michael MLA, Member for Balcatta, to inspect the recently completed enhancement of the Main Street, Hutton Street and Royal Street intersection.
Delivered in collaboration with Main Roads WA, the result is a safer and more accessible environment for vehicles and pedestrians while adding to the vitality and 'village feel' of the area.
New three-year crash data from Main Roads WA has shown the success of road safety treatments delivered in Osborne Ward in 2020/21, with crashes dropping by 62 per cent in Osborne Park and 42 per cent in Joondanna. More improvements are currently being delivered across Joondanna and Tuart Hill as part of the Urban Road Safety Program.
The Osborne Park industrial area received approximately 140 new street trees in April as part of the City's annual street tree planting program. As one of the suburbs in the City with the lowest tree canopy coverage at 3.5 per cent, improving canopy is a local priority.
