The WA Government is delivering a major transformation at Osborne Park Hospital as part of the New Women and Babies Hospital Project, with the expansion of maternity, gynaecology and neonatology services, birthing suites and theatres.

Construction overview

In October, work to establish a construction site compound at the corner of Limosa Close and Osborne Place will continue, involving the installation of steel fencing around the compound. Fencing installation will start within the hospital grounds and continue around the boundary of both the construction and administration sites.

As part of this fencing installation, there will be changes to the hospital access road off Osborne Place between Limosa Close and Dennis Street. Access will remain open to patients and visitors parking at the A Block car park and the hospital’s waste facility, but the rest of the road will be closed off.

Ambulances accessing the E Block entry and anyone accessing carparks other than A block will use a new hospital access road off Limosa Close.

Other activity includes ongoing works to establish site offices and amenities, including earthworks and service connections.

What to expect

Construction noise from vehicles and equipment is expected during some activities. These include, but are not limited to, heavy vehicles, telehandler, power tools (including rattle gun) and earthmoving equipment.

Traffic management will also be in place where required to safely assist staff, motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

The following mitigation measures will be in place to minimise impacts where feasible:

  • Noise and vibration monitoring
  • Water carts and hoses for dust suppression.
