Memorial plaque honours Bushland Forever fighter

Local conservation champion Rick Denniston’s contributions to the City’s bushland have been honoured with a new memorial plaque.
Rick Denniston was a well-known and loved community member who was a founding member of the Friends of Dianella Bushland in 1994, serving as convenor when Jon Lumley left the area in 1998.
He was a major contributor in saving Cottonwood Crescent Reserve under the Bushland Forever project, recruiting locals and campaigning widely over many years.
In addition to attending many planning meetings, Rick hosted on site visits with conservationists David Pike and Phylis Robertson, Urban Bushland representative Mary Gray and City representatives David Lagan and Daniel Rajah.
Often in the media as a spokesperson for the Friends of Dianella Bushland, Rick being a passionate local resident helped save this important nature corridor forever.
Fittingly, the memorial plaque honouring Rick’s life and contributions has been installed at Cottonwood Reserve on a bench near the interpretive signage.
