Mayor Mark Irwin AM appointed Member of the Order of Australia

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin AM has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.
Mayor Irwin received the honour for “significant service to local government, surf lifesaving and to the community”.
A member of Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club since childhood, Mayor Irwin served as President of Scarboro SLSC from 2003 to 2008 and President of Surf Life Saving WA from 2008 to 2014.
He then moved into local government in 2015, earning election as a Councillor with the City of Stirling, where he has served as Mayor since 2017.
In March this year, he was elected President of the WA Local Government Association.
“On behalf of the City, I want to congratulate Mark on the incredible honour of being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia,” City of Stirling CEO Stev Rodic said.
“Mark’s service to the community sets an example for everyone in our organisation and we’re proud to see our Mayor recognised in this way.
“It’s deserved recognition for one of the most dedicated and effective leaders in the sector.”
