Council resolves to permanently close Tyler Street at Cape Street

The City of Stirling Council has resolved to permanently close Tyler Street at the intersection Cape Street in Tuart Hill, following a successful trial and community consultation process.
The closure, which converts this section of Tyler Street into a cul-de-sac, was trialled from January 2026 to improve safety for students, families and pedestrians near St Kieran Catholic Primary School.
During consultation period, 202 responses were received, with 73 per cent supporting the closure. Supporters highlighted improved child and pedestrian safety, calmer traffic conditions and safer movement between school and community facilities.
Traffic monitoring found the trial did not result in significant impacts on surrounding local roads. The permanent closure will be undertaken during the 2026/2027 financial year.
