Nominations now open for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards!

Do you know someone in the City of Stirling who goes above and beyond to make a difference?
Each year on Australia Day, local governments across Western Australia come together to celebrate the incredible individuals and groups who make our communities thrive.
Whether they’re a quiet achiever or a well-known local legend, this is your chance to recognise those making outstanding contributions to their communities in areas such as:
- Education
- Health
- Fundraising
- Charitable and volunteer services
- Business
- Sport
- Arts
- Environment
- Social inclusion.
Award categories:
- Community Citizen of the Year
- Community Citizen of the Year – Youth (under 25)
- Community Citizen of the Year – Senior (65 and over)
- Active Citizenship – Group or Event.
The City’s 2026 Community Citizen of the Year was Vicky Young, pictured, the president and co-founder of Dandelions WA, a charity which delivers support and dignity to people across the state.
Dandelions WA has formed connections with a wide range of WA organisations, providing kits that support Western Australians experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, hospitalisation and other forms of hardship.
Nominations close Friday 31 October 2026, so don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate someone who deserves the spotlight.
Let’s honour the people who make the City of Stirling a better place to live.
