Experience an exhilarating concert of sweeping melody, virtuoso brilliance and rarely heard orchestral treasures.
The program opens with the Australian premiere of trailblazing British film composer Doreen Carwithen’s dramatic Bishop Rock Overture. Followed by Louise Farrenc’s powerful and richly expressive Symphony No. 3, showcasing the distinctive voice of one of nineteenth-century France’s most remarkable composers.
Performed by MetSO Artist Audrey Jarvis, Korngold’s magnificent Violin Concerto then takes centre stage with its soaring lyricism, cinematic colour and dazzling solo writing.
The concert concludes with another Australian premiere: Korngold’s joyful Straussiana, a sparkling tribute to the irresistible elegance and charm of the Viennese waltz. Under the baton of City of Stirling conductor Elise Chong, these works promise an afternoon of colour, drama and musical storytelling.
